Mariska Hargitay will join TIFF Docs Lead Programmer Thom Powers for a conversation about her role as executive producer of Nuns vs. The Vatican, from Emmy Award–winning filmmakers Lorena Luciano and Filippo Piscopo, playing in TIFF Docs. Best-known for her long-standing portrayal of Olivia Benson on Law & Order: SVU, Hargitay has simultaneously been cultivating an extensive career in documentary filmmaking while developing her advocacy work with the creation of the Joyful Heart Foundation, which supports survivors of sexual assault. In 2025, she launched her own production company, Mighty Entertainment, where she directed her acclaimed debut feature, My Mom Jayne.
